Last November, Collegian writer Philip Reiser penned an article discussing nuclear energy. In that article, Mr. Reiser made several claims about coal as a source of energy that are erroneous. In his article, Mr. Reiser referred to coal as "contaminated," insinuating that there are no environmental controls on the use of this natural resource. (0) comments
Jim Taphorn and two other men founded Tantacomm Systems in 1994 with the goal of correcting severe inefficiencies in the call-center industry. By 2008, when the three sold the business to a group of investors, Tantacomm had revolutionized the way dozens of companies performed their operations, employed 12 people, and performed services for corporations as large as TD Ameritrade. The business was run on the principles of good products, good services, and hard, hard work. (0) comments
The incumbent Student Association treasurer, Allie Moore, has sought and obtained full-time employment as a spring (busy season) intern with the public accounting firm Grant Thornton. It is doubtful that full-time public accounting work combined with a TU course load will leave Ms. Moore any meaningful time to attend to her duties as the Treasurer of the TU Student Association.
Sixthirtyone leads the January issue with coverage of the Roxana Rozsa and Robert Eugene Lorton Performance Center, currently under construction at the east end of Harwell field. Slated for completion in fall 2011, the Lorton PAC will house the School of Music and the Department of Film Studies. (2) comments
Yesterday, the Supreme Court ruled that the First Amendment to the Constitution guarantees corporations the right to fund campaign ads and other media out of their general treasury. This is a wholly appropriate ruling that preserves the rights of individuals to free speech. (1) comment
